The Pacific University Center for Gender Equity, and the university’s undergraduate program in gender and sexuality studies, hosts its third biennial conference, “Gender, Race and Transformation,” Oct. 30 to Nov. 1.
This year’s conference will focus on topics that explore the interaction of gender, race and ethnicity, especially as it relates to power and oppression, individual and community identity and empowerment, or social justice and change.
Featured speakers include renowned philosopher Dr. Lewis Gordon, professor of philosophy and Africana studies at the University of Connecticut at Storrs, and award-winning poet Jericho Brown, winner of the 2009 American book Award.
