Volunteer Recruitment Coordinator

Job Description

Volunteer Reports To:  Linda Aronsohn, Volunteer Program Manager

Summary: Works closely with the Volunteer Program Manager to recruit, coordinate, and supervise volunteer groups and individuals for Portland and Eugene’s Race for the Cure. This position is a vital piece of our volunteer recruitment. The Intern will be responsible for recruiting and coordinating over 800 volunteers.

Limits of Authority: Has the authority to carry out job as described; may not obligate the Affiliate or parts thereof to any affiliation or action without specific approval of the Affiliate board and proper coordination.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, coordinate, and supervise volunteer groups for the Races
  • Assist with the coordination of individual volunteers at the Races
  • Maintain database (Convio) with volunteer updates
  • Maintain Excel list of all volunteers
  • Maintain constant communication with group leaders, including follow through regarding numbers, and commitments
  • Coordinate volunteers for the Pick Up event the day before the Race
  • Direct check-in and organization volunteer groups at the Race
  • Assist with Race for the Cure related tasks and other miscellaneous and volunteer duties as time allows

Requirements:

  • Strong communication skills with ability to get along with a variety of people
  • Highly organized and detail oriented
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Good time-management skills
  • Adhere to deadlines
  • Attend the Portland Race for the Cure (September 21, 2014)
  • Commit to working at least 15 hours per week
