Adelante AgriculturaOpportunities for volunteers abound in our farming program this winter. Do you like to construct, plant, research, lecture or work in a greenhouse? We have a job for you. See “Agricultura” attached for more info.
Facilitator Assistant, Adelante Chicas

Weekdays, 3pm-5pm

Work with our youth development program leaders to support Latina girls in local schools in this after-school program. See “Chicas” attached for more details.

Reading Pal, Adelante Educación

Weekdays, 11:45am – 1:15 pm

Work with our preschool students to develop reading skills. See “Educación” attached for more details.

Featured Internship:

La Esperanza Farm Intern

Take the lead on production of the Demo Plot at La Esperanza Farm. This work will include starting seeds in the greenhouse, preparing soil for planting, transplanting and direct seeding of vegetables, weeding and other maintenance, harvesting and produce washing and other tasks. Coordinate and supervise other volunteers in their work on the Demo Plot. Maintain detailed records throughout the growing season.

The intern will gain valuable hands-on experience in organic farming and will be able to design and implement intensive agricultural techniques (such as companion planting, trellising, succession planting, etc.). The intern will be able to take home a significant amount of produce for his/her own use.

 We’re looking for an intern who it committed to our mission, highly self-motivated, creative, experimental, who has a minimum of one year of experience in gardening and/or farming (preferably organic) and has reliable transportation to and from La Esperanza Farm in Forest Grove.

Commitment: A minimum of 10 hours per week from March 2013 to November or December 2013. Work schedule is flexible; all work is performed outdoors.
