for the City Club Light Parade
Traffic control – Provide traffic and pedestrian control at streets intersecting the parade route on Main Street. Only parade vehicles may be on Main Street during the parade, which begins on Bonnie Lane and proceeds south on Main Street to 19th. Special care needs to be taken if vehicles need to turn around.
Participant control – No air horns may be used at any time before, during or after the parade. Only walkers may pass candy; there should be no candy throwing from a moving vehicle, as it draws children into the street. The entry number of any violators should be noted and turned in. If safe to do so, they can be reminded during the parade. No religious or political literature may be passed out.
Crowd control – Once the parade has started, the parade route must remain clear of spectators. Calmly ask anyone violating this to move out of the parade route. Call E. J. Baeza or FGPD if you encounter aggressive behavior.
Disband area – Only vehicles with a special window tag may turn left onto 19th Ave. All other parade entries must continue across 19th Avenue and clear Main Street before stopping to disband. Walkers who wish to join the spectators should turn right after crossing 19th and join spectators.
Assembly area – Parade entrants will check in at the command trailer on Main Street to receive
Their entry # and a disband tag if needed. They will be instructed by volunteers about how to stage for the start of the parade. A motorcycle police unit will begin the parade, followed by a color guard. A Public Works truck will immediately follow after Santa (the only Santa), to collect all barricades and cones.
VOLUNTEERS – PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE YOUR POSTS UNTIL THE PUBLIC WORKS TRUCK COMES BY. PLEASE HELP PLACE CONES AND BARRICADES ON THE TRUCK AS THEY PASS, AND THEN YOU ARE FREE TO LEAVE.
All volunteers will receive a special volunteer hat from the Forest Grove City Club
