PMSC AmeriCorps Member at Juniata College

Juniata College is seeking a full-time Pennsylvania Mountain Service Corps (PMSC) AmeriCorps member for a one-year commitment beginning in August 2012.  The Community Service Office is dedicated to promoting civic engagement and social responsibility through service-learning.

The AmeriCorps Member is responsible for coordinating Community Federal Work Study; organizing campus service days; supporting the Bonner Leader program and service-learning trips; recruiting student volunteers; developing relationships with community partners; assessing department programs; and other duties as assigned.

Successful candidates should have a college degree, related volunteer experience, and the desire to work with college students and members of the local community.  Applicants must have a strong interest in community service and service-learning and be reliable and self-motivated. Excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work with diverse populations, are essential.  Experience working with non-profit organizations or in an educational setting preferred.

Benefits include an annual living allowance ($12,100), health insurance, federal student loan deferment, childcare allowance (if income eligible), and a post-service education award of $5,550 upon successful completion of the service term.
